An exciting new chapter for Test Management for Jira
In 2016, we acquired a small start-up in Brazil, with an incredible software testing product, now known as TM4J. Since then, we’ve invested heavily in innovating its technology, developing enterprise-grade features, and growing the team to become the highest-rated Testing app in the Atlassian Marketplace.
We are proud of our team’s success with TM4J, but it’s now time for the next milestone in the product’s journey. Today, we are excited to announce our friends at SmartBear have acquired TM4J.
Why SmartBear?
SmartBear is a strategic partner of Adaptavist, with a culture and values that align closely to our own, making it a perfect home for TM4J to thrive.
It was not an easy decision to make. But, with the testing and QA space becoming increasingly consolidated, it was an obvious one. We wanted to enable our talented team to innovate and integrate in ways, only a leading testing brand could offer. SmartBear is a strategic partner, and we will work closely together to help customers large and small to become more agile and to integrate testing into their broader DevOps strategy.
TM4J continues to gain traction in the market and receive critical acclaim from the Atlassian community, achieving high user ratings and reaching over 4,000 installs. We’re incredibly proud of the reputation it has gained in the market, which is down in large part to the tireless work of our amazing TM4J colleagues, who we will continue to work closely with as they embark on this exciting new chapter.
A seamless transition for our customers
TM4J will no longer be an Adaptavist product, but we will continue to work closely with the SmartBear team to ensure minimal disruption for our customers, particularly during the transition phase.
As the best test management tool in the Atlassian Marketplace, we will continue to offer TM4J to our customers as part of our broader portfolio. For the longer-term, we are exploring more ways to integrate TM4J with other leading Adaptavist solutions, like ScriptRunner.
We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our TM4J customers for putting their faith in us from the beginning and helping us shape TM4J into what it is today.

This is an exciting milestone in our journey at Adaptavist. The past few years have seen our company increase its global coverage, strengthen its enterprise-grade capabilities, and achieve explosive growth, thanks to a loyal and rapidly increasing customer base and a series of strategic acquisitions.
