What does culture have to do with productivity?

Productivity is not a place is the title of a recent survey report that we published, and it's also the topic of a webinar that we hosted with experts Aleks Minčić (Adaptavist) and Sierra Dasso (Atlassian). It's a much-explored idea, but the research has proven it true.

"When you are working, it doesn't matter where you are; you usually work on a computer. When you're doing focused work, your physical space is irrelevant, but most can't do their work alone. "
Sierra Dasso, Work Management Leader, Atlassian

Businesses have to make an intentional decision to drive a culture of togetherness and ensure that this culture facilitates you as a team member to work from anywhere. According to Aleks, it needs to come from the top.

"Every business has a goal–normally in terms of money or time. So, flexible processes are required to work asynchronously with your teammates in different time zones with the right tools to collaborate and feel constantly connected and engaged towards the right goals."
Aleks Minčić, Senior Solution Engineer, Adaptavist

One of the consistent problems that our experts noted as a priority for business leaders is disparate tools because they lead to siloed information. Across all the tools where work is being done, they explained why this is causing business pain. Tools that are not connected and in different ecosystems make it more challenging to take advantage of automation, and there can be costly license overlaps that organisations could streamline. It also makes it more difficult for leadership to see what happens at any given time in any department.
