Learn all about the AWS Migration Acceleration Program and how our services can help you unlock its benefits and maximise available funding.

The AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) is a structured, incentive-backed initiative designed to help organisations migrate to AWS efficiently while offsetting costs. We work directly with AWS to secure MAP funding on your behalf and manage the entire process – from eligibility assessment to funding allocation – so you can get the most out of it.

What is AWS MAP?

This comprehensive and proven cloud migration programme is designed around AWS’s experience migrating thousands of enterprise customers to the cloud. These large-scale migrations can be complex and time-consuming, but MAP can help. Its methodology has been created to help you accelerate your cloud migration and modernisation journey.
It's made up of tools, training approaches, and expertise from AWS Partner Network partners (like Adaptavist). The tools keep costs down and automate certain aspects of AWS Cloud migration. While the training, content, and partner expertise help make the process as smooth as possible. Using MAP means you can build strong AWS Cloud foundations, keep risk to a minimum, and, crucially, offset the initial cost of migration.

How AWS MAP works

AWS MAP takes place over three distinct phases – assessment, mobilisation, and migration and modernisation – to help you achieve your migration goals. Here's what you can expect from each stage:
1. Assessment
This first phase is based on a migration readiness assessment, which helps to identify any gaps in your organisation's understanding of the six dimensions of the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework: business, process, people, platform, operations, and security.
We review your current infrastructure, estimate costs, and define a business case for migration. AWS then completes and approves the assessment.
Funding: Typically, 5% of the projected migration spend in 1 year (Annual Recurring Revenue, ARR) is available as cash or credits after AWS approves the migration readiness assessment.
Timeframe: 2–4 weeks; funding released within 1–2 weeks of approval.
2. Mobilisation
This phase is about getting ready for migration, helping you build an operational foundation for phase three. Its goal is to fix any of the capability and technical gaps we identified in the assessment phase. Mobilisation will accelerate decision-making with clear guidance to set your migration up for success. We'll create and approve a migration readiness plan and tooling and build a landing zone for your migration.
Funding: Typically, 20% of the projected ARR is funded in cash or credits once the environment is prepared and all pre-migration tasks have been completed. Additional benefits can be realised for other projects, including if it involves VMware migration or is a greenfield project.
Timeframe: 4–8 weeks; funding released within 1–2 weeks of approval.
3. Migration and modernisation
It's time to migrate! This is where we achieve your go-live milestones, and all your workloads are successfully migrated to AWS Cloud. We'll execute the migrations, modernise any workloads where needed, and complete the project.
Funding: For this phase, you can expect to receive around 15–25% of the projected ARR as AWS credits once the workload has been delivered and verified. Additional credits available for migrations VMware workloads, SAP workloads, Oracle applications and more.
Timeframe: 8–24 weeks, depending on the scope of your migration; funding released within 2–4 weeks of migration milestone sign-off.
