The concept

The Scripting for monday.com experience is delivered by a standalone app called Stitch It. Stitch It was originally conceived as an integration app focused on Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence, but now natively supports monday.com after demand from our users.

The Stitch It app enables you to connect your monday.com instance seamlessly using a managed connector, then manipulate the monday.com API using TypeScript/JavaScript. This allows you to create any automation or process in monday.com that you can express through code, as long as the monday.com API offers the methods you require.

As well as using the monday.com connector to build scripts which operate on your monday.com instance, you can also use any of the other managed connectors included in Stitch It or the Generic HTTP connector to build scripts which integrate any of your other apps.

Getting started with the basics

Get to know the basics including Managed Connectors, Event Listeners to trigger scripts and the TypeScript/JavaScript editor, plus see Stitch It in action on a monday.com example.

  • The Scripting for monday.com experience is provided through an external app called Stitch It. Your entire Scripting for monday.com experience will then take place in Stitch It.

  • You can use it for both! To automate your monday.com instance where the native monday.com automation rules are insufficient, simply connect your instance to Stitch It and write your automation scripts. However, you can also connect your other tools such as Jira, Slack or ServiceNow to Stitch It and write scripts that implement processes that run across all of your tools.
