Tech and Transformation in Video Gaming, Oakland

Competing in such a fast-moving space and keeping up with the need for continuous transformation demands a powerful combination of the right culture and technology. Tech and Transformation in Gaming was a half-day event featuring two 45-minute talks from specialists who are big in the gaming industry, including the game designer Brian Hertler, Ryan Spilken from Adaptavist, and Brandon Tomyoy from Atlassian, and a shorter talk from the CEO of the MADE (the world's only video game museum!) We showed how major video game studios are using technology-forward practices to evolve their culture, become more efficient, and capitalise on change.

<p>Through a survey of the history of the evolution of mobile and console gaming, Nickelodeon's Brian Hertler will explore several topics that have impacted the world of video game companies including: How monetization of mobile games has influenced console gaming, a sector-by-sector overview of the present state of the industry, and the uncertainties that video game creators face in the future as large companies like Amazon, Google, and Apple enter the fray.</p>

<p>From Waterfall to SAFe®, project management has undergone its own kind of evolution. Ryan will take you through a <span>look at the different </span><span class="inline-comment-marker valid" data-ref="f1cafa24-4756-4d99-9623-988ebb0ea2f9">styles</span><span> of project management and compare and contrast them while exploring how users can leverage the Atlassian toolset to use the best one for your organisation!</span></p>

<p>As the Atlassian administrator for one of the most iconic video game studios of all time, Brandon has seen multiple teams attempt to integrate the Atlassian tools into their work-life to varying degrees of success. In his talk, Brandon will review some of the lessons he's learned about how teams can adapt and change to new tools and ways of working, and some of the reasons that change stalls when it's not properly supported.<br><br><br> </p>
