A test environment is a field of a test execution used to determine the target environment to be tested for each test case. When creating and planning test environments you can define your platform attributes to address different combinations of test configurations, such as operational systems, browsers, databases, hardware, languages, etc. Test environments might be based on different combinations of attributes, such as OS and Browsers, for example: Windows+Edge, Windows+Chrome, MacOS+Safari, etc. By using the reports, all stakeholders can see where the environments are used across various test execution cycles as well as track the progress, coverage, and quality os test cases assigned to test environments.
Head to Test Management configuration by clicking on the ellipsis icon, located on the upper right corner and then click on the Environments section.
You can manage environments as simple as a list of operational systems or browsers.
You can also manage complex environments settings by providing the different combinations of configurations, such as operational systems, browsers, databases, etc in the Description field.
After adding test cases to a Test Cycle, you can associate test environments to Test Cases individually or in bulk if you will.
The same Test Case can be added to a Test Cycle more than once so you can execute the same Test Case against different environments. In the Add Existing Test Cases dialog, make sure the checkbox "Hide test cases that have been added" is unchecked.
You can also associate a test environment to a test execution when executing Test Cases from the Issue View page.
If necessary, during the test execution, you can change the test environment in the Test Player screen. Just click in the test environment field and select the desired environment from the dropdown.
In this report, you can see a list of test execution results along with the test environments.
In this report, you can see a bar chart with the test execution results grouped by test environments.
In this report, you can see an overview of the test execution results, effort, and defects grouped by environments.
In this report, if you have executed within a Test Cycle the same Test Case against different environments, you can see in a Test Case by Test Case basis a matrix with the execution results grouped by environments.
