There are a few good alternatives in the Atlassian Marketplace available – Custom Dashboards for Confluence by Simplenia, for example. The Confluence Dashboards plugin saves you time finding and keeping up with the important information in your Wiki.
It allows you to put all your key information on a personalised, customisable page. Whether it be RSS feeds, Wiki pages, macros or OpenSocial Gadgets. You can then arrange the page however you want, and all changes will be remembered ready for when you next view it.

The latest compatible version right now is Version 2.1.0 compatible with Confluence versions 5.0 - 5.1.5

Confluence Dashboards plugin is available for installation from the Atlassian Marketplace, using Confluence Server Administration > Universal Plugin Manager (UPM), or by download from the Atlassian Marketplace .
Go to the UPM in Confluence administration and upload the plugin:
