Adaptavist are happy to announce the 1.2 release of the Community Bubbles plugin for Confluence. This release contains updates to the forum functionality, adding more features and making improvements in performance.
This release allows forum posts to be marked as sticky which will keep them at the top of a list of forum pages. This is useful to highlight important posts that you don't want to dissapear off the list as other topics are updated.
The new forum summary macro allows you to view a table or list of forums that are children of a given page, or in an entire space. This macro can help with automatically setting up categories or hierarchies of forums and displaying statistics from forums.
The content of the forum macro is now created from the Confluence search index. This will dramatically improve performance on forums where there is a large number of topics (and the new pagination functionality is used).
This release also introduces forum permission which can be set from a global or space level. This allows an admin to control which Confluence permissions users need to access forum functionality like sticky topics.
This release requires Confluence 2.8.2 or later.
Visit the Atlassian Marketplace page to get the latest version or install via the plugin repository.
Please make sure you are using a supported version of Confluence before installing this version of the plugin.
Confluence Index rebuild required
This version of the plugin contains functionality which adds extra infomation to the Confluence search index. After installing the plugin the admin user needs to run an index rebuild so that the new index fields are created for existing functionality.
You can easily upgrade from a previous version of Bubbles by uninstalling the old version and uploading the new version into your Confluence instance. Or you can upgrade via the plugin repository. You configuration and settings will automatically be picked up by the new version.
If you have previously setup the forum macro, please note this release has changed the default display mode to table. You may need to update your forum macros if you were previously relying on the default display option. This release also has the option to designate the forum root page used in the macro as a forum root page. This option will appear by default (to users that have permission) below the content of the forum macro. If you wish to continue using the forum macro as in previous releases without the extra functionality you will need to add the showForumAdmin=false param to your forum macro.
As noted above, this release of the plugin requires a Confluence index rebuild after it has been installed, to enable all of the new forum functionality. This step is still required if you are upgrading.
