Disappointed? Is it because Newcastle United were relegated out of the premiere division? No I am not a geordie, so I just don't care. Sorry Magpies! It's not that I don't care about your loss I just really don't care about football. That's soccer to you, Americans.
Is it my lack of faith in my political representative and the commons expenses (yawn) scandal? No! I'm thoroughly bored of that subject.
Then what could it be?
Today I drove to Stockport, a drive of about 30 minutes from my current abode in little old Glossop. I went to buy a new digital SLR. Brought it home, waited an excitement ridden hour or so to get my hands on it. Opened the box and laid all of the contents out.
No battery! What a personal disaster for me and Jessops with their failure to include a battery for my product. Now I'll have to return during mid working day to chase it up. I was so looking forward to trying the camera out. I feel like a child on her birthday who's been given a picture of the puppy she would have been gifted, but they'd sold out. Well, ok. Not that disappointed. But disappointed all the same.
I bought it (a nikon D5000)with the intention of using on the upcoming trip to San Francisco for Atlas Summit so I can photograph us and use the built-in HD video capability to film us too.
Lessons learned : check the box before leaving shop.
I was hoping to review it here, but now you'll have to wait.
Here it is with the glaring omission :
This is only a minor entry to add some images from my new Nikon D5000.
Got the battery today after a full 24 hour wait and I have just taken some photos to test. I love it. I used to have a D100 which was great, but this one is much better as it is about six years younger.
The auto feature rocks. I now need to read the instructions as it is so very different from the d100.
Here are a few images to be going on with.
First my new office. It is waiting some carpet. At first I wasn't sure about the colours on my walls as I went for an urban/natural combo. I really like it now there's some furniture in, especially with the red of the chair.

Second the view from the back of the house. Velvet hills. Nice.

I'll add a more in depth review when I've figured out the settings.
