Bug Reports and Feature Requests

Submitting Bug Reports and Feedback
Adaptavist are constantly improving our products and services. Clients play a crucial role in this process by reporting any bugs and telling us about new features they'd like to see in our products and services.
When you submit a bug report or feature request, it should be done in the correct way and sent through the correct channels in order to ensure that it is processed promptly. If you don't do this, expect delays.
Reporting Feature Requests
While a new feature might be very clear and obvious in your mind, you have to convey your vision to us. Be as descriptive as possible when asking for new features. Try and give examples and any other information that will help us understand your requirements.
Reporting Bugs
If you've run in to a bug, first try upgrading to the latest version of Theme Builder for your environment. We're fanatical about fixing bugs so the chances are that if we've already become aware of the bug, the latest version of the theme will fix it.
If you sent a letter to a doctor saying "I'm not feeling well", do you think the doctor would be able to solve that problem immediately? Obviously the doctor would have to start asking you lots of random questions to find out what you mean before he could even start fixing the problem.
It's the same with software - if you tell us "It's broken", it's going to take us much longer to solve the problem. So, be very descriptive and provide as much information as possible when you submit a bug report and we'll be able to start working on a solution much more quickly:
- What were you trying to do when the bug happened?
- What is the URL of the page where the bug happened?
- What were you expecting to happen - and what actually happened?
- Has this happened before or is this the first time that it's happened?
- If it's the first time, has anything changed recently (eg. installed new plugins, etc)?
A key step in the process to fixing a bug is enabling Adaptavist to reproduce the bug. If we can't get the bug to happen on our systems, it's almost impossible for us to fix it. So, if you can tell us a sequence of steps to make the bug happen, that vastly reduces the time it will take us to fix the bug (because we're not spending ages trying all kinds of random things in order to see the bug happen on our test systems).
