RAM
All hosted applications (Confluence, JIRA, etc) require a certain amount of RAM. The amount of RAM used depends on a number of variable factors which include:
- Amount and distribution of content (pages, issues, attachments, etc.) stored in the application
- The effect the of caching strategy employed within the application
- The number of users registered with the application
- The number of concurrent users accessing the application
- The plugins installed
- etc.
If you're setting up a new application, it will run in less than 300MB of RAM. The RAM consumption may vary over time - the rate and size of the variation increase depends on how quickly the factors listed above change.
If you're unsure as to how much RAM you will need, we recommend starting with our Silver or Sapphire hosting bands which suit the majority of our customers on an typically average load whilst providing rapid upgrade paths should you require more RAM.
If you are moving an existing, externally-hosted, application to our hosting services, choose the hosting band with at least that amount of RAM.

Disk Space
The amount of disk space used depends on a number of factors:
- The application being used
- The number of retained nightly backups
- The amount of content stored by the application
- The number of plugins installed
- etc.
On our Shared Hosting service, disk quotas are "soft" limits which you can exceed to an extent, however if you exceed the limits too far you will have to move to a higher hosting band.
On our Dedicated Hosting service, disk quotas are "hard" limits defined by the physical disk space on the server. If you find you're running out of disk space on a dedicated server, it can be increased - contact us for details.
You can use our free Backup Manager plugin to manage the size of your backups folder and keep disk space usage down.

RAID
We strongly recommend the use of RAID as it provides much more reliable disk space - should a single disk fail, it can be replaced without losing any data. Our Emerald band is the only one not to offer RAID, to keep prices down. All other hosting bands include RAID Level 1 hot swappable disk arrays.
While we take nightly backups these are disaster recovery backups, the time delay in getting you back on-line will be longer than simply replacing the hardware. A server with RAID avoids such delays because we can replace the faulty disk drive whilst the server is still running. Please bear this in mind when making your hosting selection.

Managed Applications
By default, one or more Atlassian applications will be fully managed within the hosting fee as indicated in our Feature Comparison chart. Some hosting bands allow additional applications to be managed by Adaptavist at extra cost.
Adaptavist fully manage hosted Atlassian applications but we generally won't manage other third party applications that you may have installed on your server. There are few exceptions to this rule, so please ask if there is anything specific you have in mind.
We will install, upgrade and resolve technical issues with the application. We can install plugins and do other general administrative tasks to help you get the most from your application.
For avoidance of doubt, the term "managed application" does not mean that the application license fee is included - licenses must be purchased separately.
Should you want to run other third party applications, the monthly fee may increase (with each additional application) due to increased support load and additional RAM requirements.
Please note that the number of applications that can be run on a server is limited by the maximum amount of RAM and Disk Space the server can accommodate.
If you're using our Dedicated or Remote Hosting service, your server will generally be capable of running multiple Atlassian applications, as well as other third party applications.
Shared Hosting bands can only hold one Atlassian application per account. Should you require hosting of additional applications you will need additional Shared Hosting accounts or alternatively upgrade to our Dedicated Hosting service should it be cost effective to do so.

Theme Builder / Community Bubbles
Several of our hosting bands include free "Hosted" licenses of Adaptavist's commercial Theme Builder and Community Bubbles plugins for Confluence.
The hosted license is only valid while you host within our Shared or Dedicated Hosting services and provides:
If you are using our Remote Hosting service and are using an academic or commercial Confluence license, you would need to purchase a suitable license to use the plugins.

CPU Total
This value indicates the total CPU speed (based on number of CPUs, number/speed of cores per CPU) available for the hosting band.
It's not possible to give accurate figures for Shared Hosting bands because it depends on the number of customers on the same server and how heavily they are utilising their applications at any given time. Should you notice performance issues, please contact our support team who will investigate.

Minimum Term
All hosting accounts are subject to a minimum contract term of either 3 or 12 months as indicated in the Feature Comparison.
If you pay annually in advance, the minimum term will be 12 months, regardless of the hosting band.

Monthly Cost
Each hosting band has an associated monthly cost as indicated in the Feature Comparison.
Should you add additional applications, the monthly cost will likely increase. For more information, see Managed Applications.

A fee may be applicable when starting a hosting account or upgrading to a different Hosting Grade. For more information see Migration Fee.

Discounts
If you pay for your hosting service quarterly (3 months) or annually (12 months) in advance, you will automatically receive a 5% or 10% discount as applicable.
If you are purchasing an Atlassian application license for use with your hosting, get in touch with us as we offer a 10% discount on the license fee.

Migration Fee
A migration fee is incurred in the following scenarios:
- If you are are starting a new Dedicated Hosting account, having not hosted with us before
- If you are upgrading from a lower to a higher Hosting Grade.
