Accessing the Command Prompt
Go to the "Start" menu and select "Run..." from the right side of the Start menu.
Tip:
If you don't have the "Run..." option in your Start menu you may still be able to access it by pressing "
+ R" at the same time (video tutorial).
When prompted, enter "cmd" and click OK.
This will open the MS-DOS shell window, usually referred to as the Command Prompt:
What should I do now?
If you want to quickly find out if you can access your server, use the ping command.
If you want to get a more in depth analysis of the route between your computer and the server, indicating where any problems occur, use the tracert command.
