Overview
As of March 2008, all commercial Adaptavist plugins require you to accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) and upload a valid license key (if applicable) before using them.
This page answers common questions regarding the license and product licensing.
End User License Agreement (EULA)
Can I review the EULA before installing the plugin?
Yes, it's on our website: EULA.
Your legal department may also want to review the list of Embedded Software.
How do I accept the EULA?
After installing the plugin, go in to the Confluence Administration Console and then choose the "License Details" option for the plugin from the links shown at the left of the screen. You will be shown the EULA and prompted to accept it at the bottom of the page.
The plugin will not work until you accept the EULA.
Plugin Licensing
Do I need a license key?
The requirement for a license key depends on the type of Confluence license you are using (how do I find out?), as shown in the diagram below:
In addition, if you are hosting with Adaptavist it's likely you'll be eligible for a free license for the duration of your hosting contract. For more information, please see Hosting Feature Comparison.
How do I get a free or evaluation license?
See Free, Evaluation or Developer Licenses for more information.
I need a new license key - which type should I purchase?
If you are running a Commercial or Academic license of Confluence then you will require the equivalent plugin license. For pricing and more information, see New Licenses.
For example, if you have a Confluence Commercial Team (25 users) license you'll need a Commercial Team (25 users) license for the plugin.
Likewise, if you were running a Confluence Academic Enterprise (500 users) license, you'd need a Academic Enterprise (500 users) license for the plugin, etc.
To find out what sort of Confluence license you're using, see Confluence License Types.
If you are running a Confluence cluster, you will require a Cluster license which allows you to run the plugin on any number of nodes within the cluster (you don't need a license per node).
If you have lots of Confluence installations (or a few clusters) it will often work out cheaper to buy a Site license which allows you to run the plugin on any number of Confluence installations (including clusters) within your organisation.
I need to upgrade or renew my existing license key
If you've upgraded your Confluence license key (eg. to get more users or convert to a cluster, etc) you'll need to also upgrade the plugin license key. For example, if you've upgraded Confluence from Team to Enterprise, you'll need to upgrade the plugin license from Team to Enterprise. You can find details of upgrade pricing on the License Upgrades page.
If your existing plugin license has expired, you can extend the support and upgrades period by 12 months (from the date of the existing maintenance period expiring) - for more information, see Maintenance Extensions.
If you purchased your Theme Builder license prior to 2nd November 2007, please see
Plugin Licensing Model Changes for important details about changes made to plugin licensing.
I'm hosting with Atlassian - what sort of license do I need?
If you're using Confluence Team Hosted, you can't use install plugins unfortunately.
If you're using Confluence Enterprise Hosted, see Confluence License Types.
Do I need a license key for my development or staging environments?
The plugin will automatically run in free mode - see Free, Evaluation or Developer Licenses for more information.
