Add style to menubar macro

I am trying to create a horizontal menu on our site which does not yet use Themebuilder. We have it installed and used some of the macros.

On our dev server I setup a menu using the menubar macro and then added the following to the custom html head area

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/s/1636/29/1.0.2/_/download/resources/com.adaptavist.confluence.themes.sitebuilder%3Asitebuilder/hmenu/src/skin-longhorn.css">

As you can see on the following page

http://dev.orthopaedia.com/display/Main/Home

The menu does not correctly inherit the style.

I was hoping that I could create user macro with all the menu code and then insert this into the current existing template/layout in the correct location.
Is that possible?
If so how?

Regards

Christian
