Hints and Tips

Don't make columns to long (in terms of screen height) otherwise visitors will have to scroll down several times to read the first column, then scroll to the top to start the next column and so on.

Try to avoid using more than 3 columns if you are putting text in to them.

Wrap the content of a column in the quote macro to add a clean looking seperator bar down the left hand side.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q What's with all that latin text?
A The loremipsum macro adds one or more paragraphs of random latin text - very useful for doing quick mock-ups of content layout.
Q What's that border parameter in the section macro?
A It's a feature of the section macro that allows you to add borders to your columns.
Q Can I give the columns different border and background colours, etc?
A Yes. Just add additional macros inside your columns such as the bgcolor macro, panel macro and even the quote macro.
Q When I put [USERGUIDE:Tables] inside columns, their borders dissapear if the section doesn't have the border parameter set - why?
A It's a bug in the Confluence style sheets. We've notified Atlassian and hopefully it will be fixed in a later release. A future version of the Builder theme may offer a patch to resolve the issue if Atlassian do not fix it at source.
