What are Spaces?

Spaces are containers that contain content relating to a particular theme or topic.

You can use spaces to store documentation, a website, an intranet or even specific projects and/or teams within to your organisation - it's entirely up to you!

Footnotes
Ref Notes
1 Spaces are only listed if you have sufficient privileges to view them. The privileges are defined by Space Permissions.

At the top of the list there are one or more tabs:

  • My - If you've added spaces to you favourites (see later), this tab will appear and list those spaces if you are logged in.
  • Team - If spaces have been marked with team labels, this tab will appear allowing you to filter the spaces list by the various labels.
  • New (x) - When new spaces are created, they'll appear in this tab. It lists all spaces created recently and shows when they were made. If there are no recently created spaces, this tab will not appear.
  • All - This tab lists all spaces that you have access to.

When you select a tab, the list of recently updated pages that appears to the right of the list will change to reflect only content that has changed in the spaces listed. For example, to see recently updated content from all spaces, choose the All tab.

Each space in the list shows the following information (from left to right):

  • Space Title - this is the name of the space - clicking on the link will take you to the Space Homepage.
  • Space Key - this is shown in brackets after the space title. It is a unique reference for the space and allows you to create Links between spaces.
  • - Clicking this icon takes you to the space browser which is a tool for navigating within a space (eg. alphabetical index, recently updated pages, etc).
  • - If you have permission to add Pages within a space, this icon appears. Click it to add a new page to the space.
  • - Click this icon to add the space to your personal favourites. You can only do this when logged in. When a space is marked as your favourite, the icon will change to .
