The not so dark art of Perfomance Tuning

Oct 29, 2009 05:02

Adaptavist CTO and co-founder, Dan Hardiker, will be joining Kodewerk CTO, Kirk Pepperdine, at Devoxx 2009 to help demystify Performance Tuning...

Performance tuning is still considered to be a dark art, even though the processes and tools that should be used are widely known and been well distributed. Developers continue to believe they can figure it out and jump to wrong conclusions consistently.

In this session, Dan will play the role of a typical developer; bumbling around the source code in an attempt to tune a poorly performing application. During the process Kirk will act as a guiding mentor, reminding Dan of the knowledge he has but seems to forget to implement - without the need of any magic.

Using basic and freely available tools and concepts, this session aims to not only describe the performance tuning process, but to demonstrate the anti-patterns that typical developers still choose over the best practices.

If you are going to be at Devoxx this year come and say hello, there will be loads of Adaptavist staff attending this great Java conference.
